Tv Nibble: Reconciliation

This week’s Supernatural picks up with Sam and Dean back together. However the episode has that feeling of someone trying to put all the toothpaste back in the tube, but at least they admit snapshotthat’s what they’re doing.

The episode opens with Sam and Dean in the car, talking about a clean slate, a fresh start, saying how they need to learn how to work together again. Sam however can’t see how they can just forget the apocalypse and that’s pretty much how we’re all feeling as an audience.

The problem is that the show needed a really good end to last season and because of they way it was set up only one end would work. However that meant that season 5 would always have the “apocalypse” hanging over its head and that doesn’t really work for me.

So it was nice to see Sam and Dean back together, just hunting your bog standard pagan god. However it felt forced, it felt artificial and halfway through the episode the brothers needed to have a blowout, to air all their dirty laundry. They are not the same people they once were, snapshot(0)they can’t just pretend they are because it’s what the audience wants.

Still bickering they kick Paris Hilton’s ass (actually they chop off her head) and then afterwards they have a heart to heart. They admit they’ve both made some bad decisions but at the end of the day they’re still brothers and that’s what matters.

Yeah, ok, it’s kind of artificial and a bit corny but if it gets us back to first-three-seasons Sam and Dean then I’m happy.
